Reverend Alan R. Schaefer

Reverend Alan R. Schaefer, has been the pastor of Union Hill Presbyterian Church since October 9, 2005.

Ordained in 1974, Rev. Schaefer brings a broad range of experience, talent and God given gifts to our congregation. His leadership experience with smaller congregations will prove to be a great asset to Union Hill Church.

In addition to his role as pastor, he served his community in a number of positions, including: leader and organizer of fund raising events for charity, chaplain to the Eatontown Police/Fire Departments and First Aid Squad, and trustee of the Homing Corporation (a residential facility for unwed/homeless mothers and their children).

Alan was born and raised in New Jersey, where he spent most of his life.

His education includes a B.A from Bloomfield College and a Masters of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

As a single parent, he raised three foster sons who came to him in their teens; Marshall, who died in a tragic accident a few years ago, Michael (33), who recently transferred to Rhode Island for a restaurant management position, and Jesse (30), who works in the seafood processing industry in Highlands, NJ.

When Alan is not consumed by family or ministry, he enjoys many hobbies and interests, including, photography, Loinel trains, landscaping, local history, and designing & building things, to name a few.
